About us

Tanzania Islamic Centre is a religious organisation operating on Panterritorial level.  It is registered as a trust as well as Association with membership.  The main centre of its activities and the Headquarters is based in Dar es Salaam, Kinondoni District on Plot 240 Block D alongside Morogoro Road and Kawawa Road.
 
The Centre is composed of:-
i.   A grand mosque, with prayers carrying capacity of 3000 people.
ii. Block B, a two story building housing offices of the Association a reference Library, a tailoring class and four shops for rental purpose on the ground floor.
The front part of second floor has 3 roomed clinic for rental and at the rear section of the same floor there is the School restaurant.  Therest of second floor and the third floor make up The Sheikhat Hissa  Islamic Primary School with its offices.
 
iii. Block C is a one story building, with 6 shops for rental on the ground floor and The Sheikhat Hissa Islamic Nursery School on the first floor.
 
 
Objectives of the Association.
 
Most of the TIC’s activities have their trust on education either religious or circular or both.  Current challenges include:-
 
 
  •  Intensive improved performance of the Sheikhat Hissa Islamic Primary and Nursery Schools examination results.
  • Upgrading of the tailoring class into a formal Tailoring Institute providing Diploma awards on Tailoring and Designs.
  • Provision of religious education for practical application in Public Primary Schools with in the vicinity of TIC Centre.
  • Provision at of Religious education and information for Muslims public consumption in the website of the Association, brochures and new letters.
  • Translation of key religious books for references in Islamic Schools, Mosque libraries and for individual Muslims is as well a challenge of immediate attention.

 

Administration:
TIC is administered on day to day basis by the Executive Director working very closely with the Secretary of the Association.  TIC has five departments, each with specific duties and headed by a Chairman.
 
The Departments are:-
 
  •  Department of Finance Planning and Administration
  •  Department of Religions Education and Islamic Sheria.
  •  Department of Religions propagation, publishing and printing.
  • Department Mosques management
  • Department of education.

 

The Association is governed by the Board of Trustees.  The Board lays down policy guide lines for running the Association to achieve its objectives on the right track with respect to its Constitution and financial regulations.  The Board of trustee is guided in its activities by the resolutions of the General Meetings or Special General Meetings.
